Sam’s Story
Clare Hart lovely Sam started to show signs of discomfort not long after his first few shows competing, he was diagnosed by Alnorthumbria Equine Vets with mild arthritic hocks and kissing spin.
Alnorthumbria medicated Sam's hocks and also done a 7 ligament snip kissing spine operation.
After having stitches removed that's when Sam started coming to Seven Mile Equine to use the water treadmill to slowly strengthen his back, core and also get him supple again.
Sam also got weighed regularly to help Clare maintain his healthy weight whilst in rehabilitation.
At times Sam enjoyed the water treadmill a little to much spending more of his time splashing then walking 🤣 but it was lovely to see him back to his cheeky self
We are over the moon to see how far Sam has come and is now back out competing pain-free, stronger and happy!
Thank you Clare for allowing us to share Sam's journey and his happy ending
Huge good luck to you and Sam out competing yous both deserve it!!
Spirit’s Story
So Spirit's first year in life hasn’t been easy and this is why..
In May 2022 Spirit's owner found her in the field with a horrific injury, causing a severe wound to her left foreleg.
They were unsure of how well Spirit would recover from this injury but they gave her the chance she deserved and they are so delighted with the results!.
Following several vet visits to control and stabilise the wound, Spirit started attending salt therapy sessions to assist with the healing. The salt therapy sessions increased the healing time process by promoting new skin cell generation, reducing proud flesh whilst naturally sterilizing the wound.
Spirit made a full recovery and is back being a young happy yearling!
Coppers Success Story
Cooper came to us for a one-month low-impaction rehabilitation program. This consisted of 5 water treadmill sessions per week for 4 weeks.
To begin with, Cooper required short frequent sessions due to his recovery from an injury, starting at just 7 minutes per session. He has worked amazingly and built up the strength to complete full sessions daily at 17 minutes per session.
Due to Cooper's injury, he had gained weight but his stay at Seven Mile Equine has allowed him to tone up and lose fat.
Cooper has not only seen physical improvements but his owners and the team at Seven Mile Equine could see he had a spring in his stride.
The before and after pictures say it all. Look at the handsome lad, we are so proud of his progress.
Cooper is now back home to be ridden and will continue to attend regular sessions at Seven Mile Equine as part of his maintenance program.
Capri’s Story
Capri's Transformation *permission from the owner to share*
Following vet referral, Capri came to use for a 3-week strengthening program, consisting of 6 sessions per week. Capri was weak on arrival and therefore we had to be mindful of intensity. Capri's program only began to intensify once she establish good balance, and strength and was able to endure a full 15-minute session.
Capri's results are evidence that tailor-made programs that often consist of shallow water (hoof level), and short and slow sessions can gain massive results. This was the ideal approach and program for Capri's condition.
The results have been amazing and she continues to remain sound.
